At Manix Limited, we understand that impact goes beyond business, it extends to how we engage with our environment, our community, and the world around us. That belief came to life on Saturday, 11th April 2026, when we held our first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the year at the serene and refreshing Ngong Forest Sanctuary.
What unfolded was more than just a tree planting exercise, it was a full-day experience of connection, reflection, teamwork, and purpose.
A Symbolic Starting Point: Nairobi CBD
The day began in the early morning with the Manix team assembling at our I&M Store located in Nairobi CBD. This wasn’t just a convenient meeting point—it was symbolic.
Manix Limited began as a single clothing store right in the heart of Nairobi’s CBD. Standing there before departure served as a reminder of how far we’ve come as a brand, and how important it is to stay grounded in purpose even as we grow.
With excitement in the air and energy high, the team set off for Ngong, leaving behind the city’s fast pace for a day immersed in nature.

Arrival, Orientation & Setting the Tone
Upon arrival at Ngong Forest Sanctuary, we were welcomed by experienced guides and rangers who took us through a detailed briefing session. This included:
-
An introduction to the sanctuary and its ecological importance
-
Guidelines on environmental conservation and responsible behavior
-
Safety instructions and house rules for the day’s activities
This orientation helped set the tone—this wasn’t just a visit; it was an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to environmental preservation.
To get everyone ready for the activities ahead, the team engaged in a light body stretching session. It was a simple but important moment—loosening up, laughing together, and preparing both physically and mentally for the experience ahead.
The 5KM Nature Walk: A Journey Worth Taking
With everything set, the team embarked on a 5-kilometer walk through the sanctuary—and this quickly became one of the highlights of the day.
Walking through the forest trails offered a completely different atmosphere from city life. The contrast was striking:
-
The air was fresh, crisp, and rejuvenating
-
The environment was calm, peaceful, and uninterrupted
-
The sounds of birds and rustling leaves replaced traffic noise
It wasn’t just a walk—it was a reset.
For many on the team, it was a rare opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and fully take in the beauty of nature. Conversations flowed more freely, laughter echoed through the trails, and there was a shared appreciation for the environment we often take for granted.
The 5KM walk wasn’t just a route—it was a transition, leading us from routine into purpose.

The Heart of the Day: Tree Planting
At the end of the walk, we arrived at the designated planting site—ready for the main activity of the day.
Before beginning, the rangers guided us through proper tree planting techniques, ensuring that every tree planted would have the best chance to grow and thrive. From spacing and depth to handling the seedlings carefully, every detail mattered.
Then the planting began.
As a company, we successfully planted 100 indigenous trees, each one contributing to:
-
Restoration of the natural ecosystem
-
Improvement of air quality
-
Long-term environmental sustainability
-
Preservation of Kenya’s indigenous plant species
But beyond the numbers, what made this session truly special was the personal connection.
This wasn’t mechanical or rushed. Team members took their time with each tree—planting, watering, and even pausing to reflect. Some went a step further, interacting with their trees in a light-hearted yet meaningful way:
Giving them names
Speaking to them
Taking photos to mark the moment
It may sound simple, but it reflected something deeper—a genuine connection to nature.
This was not just about planting trees. It was about planting intention, responsibility, and care.
Team Bonding Through Purpose
While the environmental impact was the core objective, the CSR activity also played a powerful role in strengthening the Manix team.
Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of unity:
-
Walking together through the forest
-
Supporting each other during the planting
-
Sharing jokes, stories, and moments
Outside the usual work environment, people connected differently—more openly, more naturally.
It reinforced an important idea: when people come together for a shared purpose, the results go beyond the task itself. It builds stronger relationships, better collaboration, and a more connected team.

A Well-Deserved Wind Down
After a fulfilling and physically engaging day, the session came to a close with refreshments.
This was a moment to relax, recharge, and reflect on the experience:
-
Conversations about the day’s highlights
-
Appreciation for the effort put in by everyone
-
A shared sense of accomplishment
There was a quiet satisfaction in knowing that the day had made a real difference—both environmentally and internally as a team.
Looking Ahead: A Commitment Beyond One Day
This CSR initiative marks the beginning of Manix Limited’s sustainability journey for 2026, and it sets the tone for what lies ahead.
Planting 100 trees may be one step, but it represents something bigger:
-
A commitment to environmental responsibility
-
A dedication to giving back to the community
- A culture of purpose-driven action within the company
At Manix, we believe that small, consistent actions create lasting impact. And as we continue to grow as a brand, we are equally committed to growing our contribution to the environment and society.
Conclusion
The day at Ngong Forest Sanctuary was more than an activity—it was an experience that reminded us of what truly matters.
It reminded us to:
-
Slow down and appreciate nature
-
Take responsibility for the environment
-
Work together toward a shared goal
Most importantly, it reminded us that impact doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful—it just has to be intentional.
