That belief came to life on Saturday, 11th April 2026, when we held our first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the year at the serene and refreshing Ngong Forest Sanctuary.

What unfolded was more than just a tree planting exercise, it was a full-day experience of connection, reflection, teamwork, and purpose.

A Symbolic Starting Point: Nairobi CBD

The day began in the early morning with the Manix team assembling at our I&M Store located in Nairobi CBD. This wasn’t just a convenient meeting point—it was symbolic.

Manix Limited began as a single clothing store right in the heart of Nairobi’s CBD. Standing there before departure served as a reminder of how far we’ve come as a brand, and how important it is to stay grounded in purpose even as we grow.

With excitement in the air and energy high, the team set off for Ngong, leaving behind the city’s fast pace for a day immersed in nature.

Arrival, Orientation & Setting the Tone

Upon arrival at Ngong Forest Sanctuary, we were welcomed by experienced guides and rangers who took us through a detailed briefing session. This included:

An introduction to the sanctuary and its ecological importance
Guidelines on environmental conservation and responsible behavior
Safety instructions and house rules for the day’s activities

This orientation helped set the tone—this wasn’t just a visit; it was an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to environmental preservation.

To get everyone ready for the activities ahead, the team engaged in a light body stretching session. It was a simple but important moment—loosening up, laughing together, and preparing both physically and mentally for the experience ahead.

The 5KM Nature Walk: A Journey Worth Taking

With everything set, the team embarked on a 5-kilometer walk through the sanctuary—and this quickly became one of the highlights of the day.

Walking through the forest trails offered a completely different atmosphere from city life. The contrast was striking:

The air was fresh, crisp, and rejuvenating
The environment was calm, peaceful, and uninterrupted
The sounds of birds and rustling leaves replaced traffic noise

At the end of the walk, we arrived at the designated planting site—ready for the main activity of the day.

Before beginning, the rangers guided us through proper tree planting techniques, ensuring that every tree planted would have the best chance to grow and thrive. From spacing and depth to handling the seedlings carefully, every detail mattered.

Then the planting began.

As a company, we successfully planted 100 indigenous trees, each one contributing to:

Restoration of the natural ecosystem
Improvement of air quality
Long-term environmental sustainability
Preservation of Kenya’s indigenous plant species

But beyond the numbers, what made this session truly special was the personal connection.
